Protocol Analyzer 1.1

Finally, Protocol Analyzer 1.1 is released! It contains a lot of goodies like the Pulse distribution view, Pulse re-anayzing and CUL support – see the release notes for all details. A big thanks to the beta testers for test and feedback! The release now also includes a manual for the program.

  1. Is it possible to analyze ir from a remote using a simple ir capture device such as this:

    1. No, not currently. the irwidget has a built in CPU and communicates with a serial port to the host computer using a proprietary protocol (that I don't have the specs for). The Analyzer uses the microphone input and does not require any external CPU, just an IR-module and some resistors to get the signal level right.

  2. Hello,
Is it possible to recover the source of Protocol Analyzer?
I want to add a protocol decoding a generic weather station.
    thank you :-)

  3. Pascal, Send me a mail (the address is on http://wiki.nethome.nu/doku.php/nethomeservercurrentstate) so can we discuss how to proceed

  4. Hello,
First of all I wanted to thank you for such a great yet simple tool.

As you know, most simple way to capture ir signal is simply to solder an photoresistor (which are found almost everywhere) to mic cable.
But I have one little problem- since resistors I have are higher-resitance positive I get inverted signal. Which is still very usefull, but decoding signals isn't possible on-the fly this way (i get bunch of faulty decoded codes instead of one right).

Can you maybe add one small checkbox to actually invert incoming signal before decoding it? I know it can be HW resolved, but why bother with extra components when quality of the signal with 1 photoresistor is good, only inverted?

    Thanks in advance

  5. Thank you! I have added an "invert"-option in the settings now. I put up a temporary prerelease for you on: http://wiki.nethome.nu/doku.php/beta where you can try it out. Tell me if it works as you expected. In this release you can also write your own decoder-plugins for the analyzer.
